APPLE NOTES IMPORT

Move your Apple Notes into Notes Plus with their formatting intact.

Notes Plus lets you copy notes from Apple Notes directly into your Notes Plus app (what a sentence haha). For quick and dirty copying, select a note's full content with CMD+A when inside a note, then paste into Notes Plus via CMD+V. It works MOSTLY: See the compatibility table below. What works and (what does not) will improve in the future.

In macOS Tahoe and Golden Gate the Apple Notes app has an option to export a note directly to Markdown.

What works / what doesn't when copy & pasting from Apple Notes:

Works

  • Headlines 1 to 6
  • Texts
  • Text formattings (bold, italic, bold italic, etc.)
  • Lists (will be converted to dash lists)
  • Numbered lists
  • Links (incl. URL)
  • Tables
  • Code blocks (basic blocks, not sure about complex ones)
  • Checklists (also checked/unchecked status)

Doesn’t work

  • Bullet lists (will be converted to dash lists)
  • Quotes
  • Colors (as there is no color in Markdown)
  • Tags (as there are no native tags in Markdown)
  • Attachments [I will look into how to export/import them too]
